The Outspeak project

Learning a language is not always associated with lust. Instead, thoughts might go to drilling vocabulary, struggling with tricky French verbs, or German pronoun forms that never quite stick. However, I am convinced that no one would turn down the opportunity to speak more languages. The feeling of effortlessly ordering a coffee in fluent French at a café in Paris is unbeatable. The only problem is that the road getting there can be long. And few are willing to invest the time and effort it often takes.

This is the challenge I want to explore. It is in the gap between wanting and being able that I search for ideas. And it is in joy, curiosity, exploration, and courage that I find them. In today’s digital world, there is no shortage of attempts to make language learning more enjoyable. But many of the otherwise fantastic language apps lack one crucial ingredient: reality. The real, pulsating, living world out there. That is the reality I want to stay close to in my project. Let’s call it The Outspeak Project.
